I will miss you in time, but at this moment your premature departure seems surreal and has pissed me off to no end. Knowing humans are preposterous creatures and I know we reveled in that fact. We laughed at ourselves more times then I can count. Should I call you my brother, friend or neighbor? I can only call you Peter (and usually after 2 PM). We certainly disagreed constantly and I believe (and hope) we all learned from each other. It still isn’t true in my mind but in time I will miss you and the creating that we all endured together. You’ve made life both interesting and irritating and I could not imagine not having known you for 37 years. You have changed and touched countless lives through music, comedy and often brutal honesty. Josh Silver: “Peter, My endless source of frustration, (as I’m yours) you have really done it this time. We’d like to share our thoughts and those of Peter’s family below. We are truly saddened to lose our friend and appreciate the tremendous outpouring today from around the world. The funeral services will be private and memorial services will be announced at a future date. The official cause of death has yet to be determined pending autopsy results. Ironically Peter had been enjoying a long period of sobriety and improved health and was imminently due to begin writing and recording new music for our follow up to “Dead Again” released in 2007. It is with great sadness that we inform you that Type O Negative front man, bassist, and our band mate, Peter Steele passed away last night of what appears to be heart failure. Members of Type O Negative have updated with an official statement regarding the recent death of frontman Peter Steele. Type O Negative Issue Official Statement About Peter Steele

The option “Use at most X% of processors” allows you to allocate a certain number of threads to BOINC. More advanced options are available in Options > Computing Preferences. You can also control the use of the graphics processor with Activity > Suspend GPU or Use GPU based on preferences). You can totally stop calculations with Activity > Suspend (and resume them with Activity > Run based on preference). Each BOINC project requires a different account ( Project web pages > Your account), you will have to go to each project website if you want to change your nickname or join a team.īOINC also gives you the possibility to control very finely the use of your machine’s resources, in order not to overheat it or to leave computing power for other tasks. The project tab will display the list of projects added to the BOINC client. It will then be possible to add a project in the menu Options > Add project. On a computer, it is recommended to switch the interface to advance mode ( View > Advanced View). It is also known as the project giving the most credits in relation to its calculation time.Ī list of all available BOINC projects is available here. This project has recently received strong interest from the general public and the press during the Covid-19 pandemic by proposing units looking for potential antiviral proteins against the SARS-CoV-2 (Molecular Chemistry): Project by the Angers Université to create a new collaborative platform of quantum chemistry results.Ĭollatz Conjecture (Mathematics): Project created by Jon Sonntag trying to refute the Collatz Conjecture. World Community Grid (Medicine, Ecology): Project created by IBM offering several sub-projects in the fields of Medicine and (Biology): Project by the Washington University seeking to create new proteins potentially useful in research against diseases. and its volunteers discovered dozens of new pulsars. It was closed on March 31, (Astrophysics): Project to detect gravitational waves. This was the first project to make use of the BOINC grid computing framework. Some of the main BOINC projects (Astrophysics): Project created by the Berkeley University to detect potential extraterrestrial signals. ProjectsīOINC projects come from diverse fields of research, such as mathematics, astrophysics and biology. Depending on the project, the computing units can be computed on CPU or GPU. The BOINC client is compatible with Windows, Linux, MacOS and Android. The BOINC credit system has an entire community around it, with teams, rankings and badges to earn. The volunteers only need to download the BOINC client and to create an account for one or several BOINC projects.Įach BOINC project offers more or less resource-intensive computing units, which when completed by users, will reward them with a certain number of points. It allows volunteers to help scientific research by running scientific computing jobs on their computers in the background. The BOINC Project (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) is a distributed-computing project created by the Berkeley University in 2002. One option is to point the HEAD directly to the C1 commit by specifying its SHA value. To do so, you must point the HEAD to the desired commit. Let’s say that you want to create a new branch from commit C1. You can also use ` HEAD` to create a new branch by referencing a particular commit. However, the main branch still points toward the C1 commit. This can be achieved using the ` git checkout` command.Īs you can see, when the new commit was created, the HEAD pointer changed its reference and now points toward the latest commit, C2. Here, the HEAD is not referencing or pointing to the main branch instead, it is pointing directly to the C1 commit. In the image above, the HEAD is pointing to the main branch and the main branch is pointing to the C1 commit. To better understand this, consider an example: This state is known as detached HEAD state. However, it can also point directly to a commit. Thus, the ` HEAD` pointer indirectly points to a particular commit. It is like a pointer that points to a branch, and that branch itself points to a particular commit. ` HEAD` is primarily a reference to a named branch in a Git repository. Reflogs are useful in various Git commands, to specify the old value of a reference.”īefore diving further into the `git reflog` command, let’s take a look at some basics of Git. “ Reference logs, or “reflogs,” record when the tips of branches and other references were updated in the local repository. This command is used to get a record of references to the tips of branches and commits that have been updated. In this tutorial, you will learn how to recover your deleted commits or branches using the ` git reflog` command. It could get even worse if you are working with a bunch of other developers, as it’s easy to modify or even completely remove another person’s work, whether knowingly or inadvertently. Issues ranging from merge conflicts to accidentally deleting branches are a nightmare for many developers. Managing branches or commits in Git can be quite cumbersome. Using `git reflog` to Recover Deleted Commits The git revert command creates a new commit that undoes the changes made by the previous commit.Using `git reflog` to Recover Deleted Branches This can be done using the git revert command. Once you have identified the commit that you want to revert back to, the next step is to revert the commit. You can use the arrow keys to navigate through the list, and press q to exit the log view.Īlternatively, you can use a Git client such as GitKraken, Sourcetree, or GitHub Desktop to view your commit history in a graphical interface. This can be done using the git log command, which displays a list of all the commits in your repository. The first step in undoing a Git push is to identify the commit that you want to revert back to. In this article, we will discuss the steps involved in undoing a Git push with all the changes made by the push. In such cases, it becomes necessary to undo the push and revert back to the previous state. However, sometimes we may accidentally push changes that we didn't intend to. One of the key features of Git is the ability to push changes to a remote repository, making it easy to collaborate with others. Git is a powerful version control system used by developers to manage their codebase. How To Fix “App cannot be installed because its integrity could not be verified” on iOS.You can get it to work, but you need to install Wine via Homebrew, find a 64-Bit version of the app you try to run, and possibly you have to disable SIP. Support on macOS Monterey, Catalina, and Big Sur is rather flaky.Once the prefix is created, you can double-click the newly created app and in a few seconds, the Windows program or game will run without issue on macOS. Step 2: Double click the newly created application and your EXE will run on macOS. A Save File dialog will pop up asking for a name. There, make sure to check the box that says “Include Wine.app” to make the program self-contained.Īfter all, is done, press the “Install” button in the bottom-right corner. Leave the rest of the settings unchanged until you get to App Bundle. If the EXE file is an Installer, make sure your option is set to “Installation mode: execute the file (Installer)”. On the Program Installation part, chose the EXE file you try to run (even if it’s the Setup / Installer). Step 1: Open WineBottler and go to the Advanced tab. I have downloaded the HxDSetup file on my Mac and I now have an EXE Installer that would obviously not run on macOS. Setups / Installers are also allowed and you can make WineBottler set up the program for you.įor this example, I will use HxD Hex Editor. Now that you have WineBottler on your Mac, you need to obtain a copy of the EXE file you try to run (the Windows program). Just drag and drop them to the Applications folder like any other macOS App.ĭo keep in mind that WineBottler comes with Wine by default, so no need to download it separately. You will get a DMG file containing the applications. If you’re running macOS Sierra, El Capitan, Mavericks, or older, get the Stable one. If you’re running macOS Mojave, High Sierra, or newer, you likely need to get the Development to build. Make sure to get the version for your macOS. How to play Windows Games on macOS / OSX without emulatorsįirst of all, you need to download Wine or WineBottler for your Mac. Granted, not all programs may be able to run on Mac using Wine, but most of them do, even games because Wine can include components like DirectX, and other frameworks the game requires. You’re actually running that program on Mac. It’s not the same as running the program on VirtualBox. While by default it’s not possible, software like Wine which is completely free and open-source can pack the program in a way that it would run on Mac. Can we run Windows software on a Mac?ĭefinitely. The same applies to running macOS apps on Windows. Not only that, but even the executable format has a completely different structure, so macOS has no idea how to even execute the file. There’s no NTDLL on Mac, no RunDL元2, no NTOSKRNL, or any other of the necessary DLLs (Dynamic Link Libraries) that the program calls for at launch. A Windows program has no idea how to run on a Mac because all the API calls (Kernel or otherwise) would just error out. In this guide, we’re strictly talking about running actual Windows programs and games on macOS by using Wine.īy default, Windows programs won’t run on a Mac, and macOS apps won’t run on Windows because they’re simply not compiled for the appropriate system. Sure, you can just dual-boot Windows on your Mac using Bootcamp, but that’s not what this guide is about. Cats and dogs sleeping together, two worlds that shall never collide, isn’t it? But it really is possible to play Windows games and run Windows programs (.exe) on a Mac without having to use any emulators. Playing Windows games on a Mac running macOS / OSX sounds like such a bizarre idea. For this design we typed TIGERS in uppercase. What is impossible for Jesus Christ as the life? Is it to “heal the sick” and “raise the dead” (Matthew 10:8)? No, such actions are possible for a God who is the life therefore they are not miracles for him. 3 What is impossible for Jesus Christ as one of the hypostases of the Holy Trinity? Is it to “cleanse those who have leprosy” and “drive out demons” (Matthew 10:8)? Is it to come down from the cross and save himself (“Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, ‘You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!’” )? No. In front of the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified, the resurrected brother of Mary and Martha, the disciple whom Jesus loved, 2 soothed Jesus’ mother thus: “This crucifixion will not end in death.” But no sooner had he finished saying these words than he was confounded, for “when Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother’” (John 19:26–27). For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matthew 12:39–40), must have thought that Jesus would be buried alive 1 (and then lifted up to heaven three days and nights later: hadn’t Jesus said, “… when I am lifted up from the earth” ?), muttering, “Our Lord Jesus Christ will fall asleep dreamlessly, and then I’ll go to his tomb to wake him up.” Soon after, an acquaintance of his sent word to him, “The one you love has been sentenced to be crucified.” When he heard this, he promptly headed to Golgotha. Hearing this, the resurrected brother of Mary and Martha, who knew that when “some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, we want to see a sign from you,’” Jesus answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. ‘It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial’” (John 12:1–7). But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, ‘Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.’ … ‘Leave her alone,’ Jesus replied. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. “Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Liszt, too, promoted Wagner's work including leading the premiere of "Lohengrin" in 1850 as the court Kapellmeister in Weimar. There's no doubt about who Wagner meant there - and, as such, who he viewed as a precursor. Wagner called symphonic poems a decisive step beyond the symphony that opened the gates to the music of the future by drawing literary effects from instrumental music: "Herein lies the real secret and difficulty - the solution of which could have only been discovered by an incredibly gifted master, simultaneously a consummate musician and a penetrating poet." In 1857, Wagner wrote an essay about Liszt's symphonic poems, in which he defended the genre Liszt created against criticism that it was "formless." Liszt wanted to 'cast the spear of his creativity' into the future Image: picture-alliance/dpa Liszt was one of his preferred people to tap, and Liszt helped where he could. This time, they talked about art again, but Wagner began turning their conversations increasingly toward money. When the two first met in 1840 in Paris at a reception in the adored piano virtuoso's hotel, Wagner complained of being "hopelessly bored." A conversation about music between the two ended quickly and fruitlessly, and the famous performer gave Wagner a ticket for his next piano night.īut Wagner came away from the evening, as he put it, "with no other impressions than that of numbness."Įight years later, it was Liszt that visited Wagner in Dresden. One can also read often that it's the long shadow of Wagner that obscured Liszt's fame as a composer. That's due to a largely German criticism that Liszt's composition was ultimately superficial: all showmanship, smoke and mirrors, that doesn't stand up to the true values and achievements of the German classical tradition.įor those critics, the German tradition continued not with the cosmopolitan, boundary-blurring Liszt but in the more symphonically gifted Brahms or in Richard Wagner. Contemporaries gushed about Liszt's striking, handsome features Image: picture alliance/dpa Wagner and Liszt had a complicated, up and down relationship Image: ullstein bild - Granger Collection With the exception of a few "hits," like the Liebestraum, the Hungarian Rhapsodies, favorite virtuosic pieces like "La Campanella" or the theme from the symphonic poem "Les Preludes" that the Nazis misused as a jingle in war announcements, Liszt's music remains a largely unexplored continent. On the 200th anniversary of his birth, the stories are circulating once again about the ladies' man who dubbed himself Abbe Liszt and hypnotized the masses with his performances - though he died ultimately alone and unhappy.īut the music that this figure created still seems neglected. Perhaps it doesn't help Liszt's case that he was wealthy and famous - Germany prefers its geniuses poor and unknown. But his visionary music was misunderstood both by his contemporaries as well as many that came after him. He sought to throw the spear of his creativity far into the future, as he once put it, and that's also what he did. In Weimar, Liszt dedicated himself increasingly to composition. Even though Franz was a sickly child, he fulfilled everything that his father burdened him with."Īs a pianist, Franz Liszt conquered the world: along with the devilish violinist Paganini, Liszt was the first pop star in the modern sense - scandalous affairs, alcohol excesses and hysterical audiences were all part of the show. "But it strikes me at the same time that he made the right investment. "All of the frustrations that his father experienced were to be made good through his son's career," Wagner added. "It's really fantastic that the father of Franz Liszt was like a second Leopold Mozart," remarked Nike Wagner, the great-great granddaughter of the composer and director of the annual Pelerinages Festival in Weimar, which is dedicated to Liszt. The piano virtuoso needed a bit of a push. The young Franz was anything but a wunderkind, but was raised by his father, also a musician, with a good measure of ambition. So it's no wonder that at the home where he was born, there are two plaques: one in Hungarian, placed by the Ödenburger Association of Literature and Art and one in German: "This plaque is dedicated to the German master from the German folk." And as always in such cases, the question of which nation gets to claim him comes up. Liszt's roots were German on his father's side and Hungarian on his mother's. Long before anyone could guess he would become one of the greats of 19th century music, Franz Liszt entered the world in a small corner of Hungary in a town called Raiding. Critics have been unsure how to appraise Liszt's visionary music even long after his death Image: Hans Wetzeldorfer This manipulative power is responsible for horrible crimes and lies, and instills fear through secrecy.Ī description of a violent scene where a team of people are carrying out killings and using brutal and deadly methods.Ĭontributed by Henry F. Murder, rape, lies & decepcion, secrecy and fear. You, as followers, will go further and further for your master, without questioning the consequences. I'm afraid of you being close to me, knowing that your hands have taken lives.įor the master you are pilgrims, you will go that little bit further I fear you near me, your killers hands are cold Why do good things never seem to happen when those with the best intentions are taken from us too soon? How can good things happen, when the good die young? Mars and Minerva, symbols of war and wisdom, represent the two sides of the same manipulative power. They operate in secret, unknown circles that you never even imagined existed. They move in secret circles you never thought were there They control your fate, treating you like a pawn in their game. They set your destination, its a game at pawns Who hired killers and guards to control who enters and exits? Who placed assassins and keepers at the gate? Who rewarded the soldiers for committing murder in the name of the state? Who paid the heros who murder for the state? Overall, the lyrics suggest that wars are often misguided and that the people who suffer most are those who have little power or say in the decisions that are being made. The final refrain of the song speaks to the brutality and violence of these wars, with references to a killing house where psychopaths carry out their deeds. The lyrics suggest that these two figures are often used together in ways that promote violence and death, and that the people who are used as tools in these wars are often young and innocent. The two fingers of Mars and Minerva refer to the Roman gods of war and strategy respectively, and these two figures represent both the destructive and constructive aspects of human nature. The lyrics suggest that the game of war and power is controlled by a hidden hand, a group of powerful people who move in secret circles. The song questions who is really in charge and who has the power to hire and control assassins and killers who fight for the state. The lyrics of Angels of Liberty's song "Mars & Minerva" explores the theme of conspiracy theories surrounding the ways in which wars are fought and how political power is wielded. Highly recommend! I was inspired by the seemingly infinite collection of wondrous artifacts at the V&A. The result is a completely unique artifact capturing, mid-process, an act of unpredictable circumstance. The performance of this work, staged by the glass blowers, requires great skill and happens at great speed, with the glass and copper at first fusing when very hot, and then, as they cool, rejecting each other. For 113, I explored coaxing molten glass and copper to interact in such a way that creates form neither material could achieve on its own. “For many years, I have been researching and experimenting with fabrication processes, searching for novel methods that yield unique form. What remains of 113 are the shattered fragments of glass, and the delicate beauty of wafer-thin, fragile sculpture, like an archaeological artefact. These works demonstrate Arbel’s signature process, which is to let the intrinsic properties of a given material suggest its form, rather than impose an external idea of form upon the material. The monograph, published by Phaidon, captures Arbel’s varied output, bringing together twenty of his signature projects across sculpture, lighting, industrial design, and architecture. This research process has been meticulously documented in Arbel’s monograph, Omer Arbel - a dynamic, highly visual, and in-depth study of the celebrated multi-disciplinary artist and designer. The metal, when hot, does not come in contact with oxygen on the glass side of the form, leaving an iridescent finish creating an eye-catching contrast with the coarse oxidised finish found on the inside surface. Due to the stark differences in the two materials composition, the glass form shatters off during the cooling process, leaving behind a metallic shadow of itself. In the creation of 113, a glass form is blown conventionally, then molten copper is poured into the hot glass vessel. Over the course of the nine-day demonstration, the sculptures will be carried from the museum’s John Madejski Garden in several dignified, exalted processions, into the V&A’s Santa Chiara Chapel. 113 embodies the unexpected beauty of manipulating the two materials to create significant discrepancy in their respective rates of expansion. During the performance, common copper and glass antiquities procured from flea markets and vintage stores will be returned to their raw materials, and used to create a series of new 113 artefacts.Ī delicately intricate sculpture, 113 is created as a result of an ongoing series of experiments exploring the relationship between copper alloys and glass. For the first time in the museum’s history, the John Madejski Garden will transform into an immersive glass-blowing studio, with Arbel’s iridescent, fragile sculpture 113 taking centre stage over the course of the nine-day demonstration. Canadian multidisciplinary artist Omer Arbel, founder of design and research studio Bocci, will be presenting Material Experiments at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. |
